Last Session of Year One

This past weekend I wrapped up the season with a beautiful session at a tree farm in South Jersey… I died editing this whole gallery.

My first year of business was such a joy - and a surprise. I remember telling Kevin (my husband) at the beginning of the year that I thought “a handful” of families might reach out to me for pictures… I was filled with all sorts of feelings at the beginning of the year - anxiety being at the forefront :) very on brand for me. But the surprise of this year wasn’t just how many families trusted me with these precious moments, but how much my love for doing this grew. I’ve always wanted to take photos that bring back memories of what your little ones were like at 3, or 5 or 10… but more than anything I wanted those pictures to feel real and true to who your family is. Pictures of everyone looking and smiling at the camera have never really interested me… Sure - necessary for a Christmas card or Grandma but I hoped that I would be able to take photos that felt like real moments of connection and love. I have a ways to go, and will continue to take every learning opportunity I can - but this session was the best way of closing the year.
